Behna Open Program
The Open Program is one of Wekalet Behna's core programs, through which it seeks to contribute to the cultural and artistic landscape of Alexandria and its local and regional surroundings by activating an open cultural and artistic program offered free of charge to the public. It engages with concepts of contemporary art production, and provides the opportunity to host and present as much local and international artistic production as possible even within deeply rooted cultural concepts.
The Open Program is an unrestricted format of artistic activities, spanning a wide range of programming styles and individual or serial events in varied forms. It intersects across different tools of thinking and critique, and models of practice spanning the traditional and the contemporary, the individual and the collaborative, the artistic and the research-based — producing a mixed cultural trajectory that draws different modes of reception and diverse audiences and participants.
