There Is Nothing Older Than the Future

A retrospective programme of selected works by the Egyptian filmmaker and broadcaster Shafie Shalaby (1947–2021). Over four days, the programme presented a body of filmed interviews and rare documentary and film material that Shalaby produced across more than four decades, drawn from his extended conversations with writers, thinkers, artists, activists and politicians who witnessed defining moments in the shifts, struggles and events that shaped the Egyptian public sphere over successive generations.
